Family Connects Program: South Arkansas Regional Hospital has become Arkansas’s first healthcare facility to participate in the national Family Connects program.
This initiative aims to increase child well-being by providing much-needed support to new parents who may be struggling to access the resources they need to care for their newborns.
Through the Family Connects program, our specially trained Women’s Center Registered Nurses conduct no-cost postpartum home visits for every participating family and newborn born at our hospital, regardless of their income or socioeconomic status.
During these visits, our nurses provide invaluable guidance and support to new parents, answering questions and addressing concerns they may have about their child’s health and development.
The program’s ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between parent needs and community resources. By providing new parents with the information and resources they need to care for their children, we hope to reduce infant mortality rates and improve parenting behavior.
Family Connects has been evaluated and has numerous benefits for parents and infants. By providing new parents with the support they need, we can help reduce the need for emergency medical care for infants. This, in turn, can help reduce the financial burden on families and healthcare facilities alike. Furthermore, by improving parenting behavior, we can help ensure that children get the best possible start in life. This can positively impact their development and academic performance later in life, setting them up for success.
South Arkansas Regional Hospital is proud to be a part of the Family Connects program and looks forward to helping new parents in our community. By providing these much-needed resources and support, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families and children throughout the region.
